Robert Hensarling - Mesquite Chair Artisan

*** ABOUT MY CHAIRS ***

Since 1982, South Texas artisan Robert Hensarling has been creating  museum quality rocking chairs from the legendary Texas mesquite tree. Each piece of Mesquite used in a rocking chair is selected for its unique grain pattern. Each year Robert offers a series of 4 Day seminars to show first hand all the tips and procedures that go into making these beautiful  rockers.

*** Announcement ***

I am currently backordered about 2 years on rocking chairs and other furniture. This isn't to say I'm behind, rather it is a matter that I have chairs on order well into next year for client's birthdays, weddings, retirement, etc. (Please remember that I work alone, I can produce a better rocker this way instead of having a shop full of hired help).
However I try to always have a rocker available for sale every two to three months. Usually this is a chair that I work on in the evenings for relaxation. If you would like to be notified whenever such a piece becomes available, please email me and I'll put you on my "Items Available" list. As soon as a chair is ready for delivery, I will send out notification emails to all on the list. If you miss out on one, there'll be another within two or three months.

Every few years, I gather enough presentation grade highly figured "burled" Mesquite to make an exceptional world class rocking chair. I've done 6 of these over a 23 year period of building these chairs.

I anticipate that I will have enough of this prized Mesquite to begin yet another of these rockers shortly. The projected completion time will be during the summer or autumn of 2006. Each of these rockers is "one of a kind". Should you be interested in owning the next special rocker, please email Robert. The price of the chair is $25,000, (plus sales tax if purchased in Texas). A one-half deposit is my customary practice. The deposit will be put in an escrow account until the rocker is completed, then the balance will be due. Should I not be able to complete the chair, you will be refunded the total deposit. During the construction of the chair, periodic emails and photos will be sent to you for updates to keep you current on your rocker. The next chair after this one should be completed by summer of 2009 or 2010. Plan ahead for yourself or that special person!

The TEXAS HERITAGE incorporates some of the design of the TEXAS CLASSIC ®, yet does not have that "contemporary" look to it.  Its overall style is based more on the accumulative knowledge in chair construction I have gained over the years of building furniture.

TEXAS HERITAGE

To celebrate almost 20 years of rocking chair production, Robert is once again producing the HENSARLING ROCKER at his shop in Uvalde.  Mesquite wood will be the main focus of this rocking chair, however the rocker will also be produced in maple and walnut.
Robert has built a number of rocking chairs that have appeared in several newspapers (Wall Street Journal), magazines (Texas Highways), and TV documentaries (The Eyes of Texas) in the mid 1980's.

For more information e-mail Robert.

HENSARLING ROCKER

The TEXAS CLASSIC ® is another sculpted rocker by Robert. This  rocking chair takes over 200 hours to build, and is available by custom order.
Robert spends countless hours artistically crafting each rocking chair out of rough-hewn mesquite. Intricate hand-tooled joinery is used to enhance both the strength and beauty of these chairs.

For more information e-mail Robert.

TEXAS CLASSIC ®

Introducing the PIPER ROCKER ®. This rocking chair is an exact scaled version of the full sized Texas Classic. Made from Robert's tradmark Mesquite, this chair is #001 in a limited edition series of 100 "Little Rockers" that Robert plans to build over the next 4 years.
This rocker is a fine heirloom to be passed on from generation to generation.
