I have done several "One-on-One" seminars in the past. Due to scheduling problems I was forced to
quit offering them, but as of 11/2004 I have decided to once again offer them on a limited basis. Travel, lodging,
and meals are your responsibility. If you are interested in coming to Uvalde, and learning how to build a rocking
chair, that you will take home with you, then this is for you.
I currently offer three options:
The COMPLETE Seminar: In this seminar, you will meet with Robert, for up to 10 days in a row. It may take
as few as 6-7 days, but this depends on the student, and his/her abilities. We will select the material you want
for your rocker, with the choices being Mesquite, or Walnut. All materials, supplies and equipment are provided
in the tuition fee. At the conclusion of the session, you will have a finished rocking chair, done by you if you
wish. There are those that just like to be at the shop, while I build their chair. Also included are a complete
manual and full set of templates.
The PARTIAL seminar: In this seminar, which is about the same as the COMPLETE Seminar, with the exception
that although the rocker will be completely assembled, all final shaping, sanding, and finishing, will be done
by you at your home. You will leave with a beautiful rocker that is ready for the finishing touches. This normally
takes from 4-6 days to complete.
The PARTS seminar: This is a new one I'm experimenting with. When you come to Uvalde and meet with Robert,
the two of you will completely build your rocker, however it will not be glued up. All parts will be dry fitted
as they are shaped and fit. Then you will take the pieces home, and glue, clamp, shape, sand, and finish the chair
yourself.
The tuition fees are as follows for my "One-on-One" Seminars
|
SEMINARS - ONE ON ONE
|
| The COMPLETE Seminar |
$5,500.00 |
| The PARTIAL Seminar |
$4,500.00 |
| The PARTS Seminar |
$3,500.00 |
I require one half down as a deposit, and the balance due when you leave my shop with your chair. There will
be no deposit refunds, unless I am unable to attend the session, then you will receive a full refund. If you need
to cancel, then your deposit will be held until you can reschedule later on.
I will also consider two people attending the same seminar, however the fee will be doubled. A two person "One-on-One"
seminar will be considered for the following examples: Father/Son, Husband/Wife, Employer/Employee, Girlfriend/Boyfriend,
and so on.
The main thing to consider is the scheduling of your "One-on-One" session. Although I currently have
some openings my schedule is incredibly busy, including several large projects that are high priority: a twenty
place conference table, a twelve place dining set, and several rocking chairs.
If you are interested in a One-on-One seminar, please Contact Robert
and we'll start working on a tentative date. As of now 11/2004, the rest of 2004 is booked, but I have an opening
during the months of April 2005 and May of 2005. Time is of the essence, so please Contact
Robert ASAP if you are interested.
NOTE:
Woodworking is inherently dangerous.
All participants are required to sign a liability release form before each seminar commences.
